Email LEGO Gift Cards for Christmas

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010

Are these new? I don’t recall seeing this before: e-Gift Cards at LEGO.com.

Old or new, who cares? Load these bad boys up with cash (anywhere from $10 to $500  -  can you say ‘LEGO Death Star?) and email them out to your favourite builder (ahem). Not only can they be used toward that special set you’ve long lusted for, they also don’t expire!

Book of the Year: Linchpin by Seth Godin

Thursday, December 16th, 2010

Spending more time in creative pursuits means less time for other things. This is basic maths: only so much time, how will you add it up? Consequently, I’ve read three books this year: a comic book (Tintin and the Crab with the Golden Claws), a scifi novel (Wake by fellow Canadian Robert J Sawyer) and …

OK, technically I haven’t even finished reading it, but it’s so mind-boggingly tasty and refreshing that I simply had to take a moment and invent my own Book of the Year Award. And I’m only a third of the way into reading it. Yes, I’m talking about Seth Godin’s let-me-be-perfectly-honest work Linchpin: Are You Indispensable?

I can’t summarize it effectively other than to say:

  • it’s an easy read – have no fear
  • it’s an eye-opening read – let it sink in
  • it’s precisely what this artist needs to hear at this point in his life – oh yeah

Hit this link, read the reviews there and be honest: you always suspected you were something other than a cog in the machine.

Live Action Wile E. Coyote vs. Road Runner

Goodness comes in many forms, to many people throughout their lives. This, to me, is one such fine example. I don’t (yet) know who produced this, but I do know why. Thank you!
